Its good to see that CPO Kathi Burns is still preaching what she practices, in her follow up to HOME ORGANIZATION.

Her previous book was on junk in general, and handling it all together. Now, its divides into chapters focusing on each separate material, such as paper, office supplies and stationary, and unexpectedly, emails and phone calls, and how to alter your speech to better yourself.

Her update to focus on technology couldn’t have come sooner; so many of us are slaves to our computers and mobiles and lose our grip on reality, speech and general life. It’s also about perception; how we view ourselves, so that we don’t think the bad state we are in is acceptable.

At 163 pages and ten chapters long, there is plenty to keep us amused. Handy web links and quotes adorn every 5 pages. It is not a guide on changing personality; it is a guide that gives examples of how we can alter the way we operate.

The language is clear and a feel of the text is upbeat! It is true what she says; “Being stuck in the muck can be the roadblock of your life!” And using quotes from famous people gives it that extra umph.

This time she has give us true life stories, such as Jann, who needed help reorganising her closet. And at the end of each chapter is an Addspace action step; a checklist, if you will, to remind the reader of what is to be done. And she explores the differences and motivations between image consultants and professional organisers.

The back of the book has a bank page to add your own notes, and there is an order form for additional products from Lemongrass Publishing.

Well that’s all I can say. I hope I’ve been helpful. There are plenty of us who need to dejunk, or as Kathi says demuck. Let’s get cracking. Chin up.
